Cruz is a Costa Rican artist who lived in Europe for 18 years and currently resides in LATAM / Abya Yala. Co-founder in 2020 of the Copenhagen-based art duo L9. Holds a BFA-MFA from the Funen Art Academy in Denmark (2019).
Their multidisciplinary practice explores the reprogramming and deconstruction of the self, displacement, migration, connection, and the sense of collective identity, from decolonial perspectives, queerness, the natural world, science fiction, and magical realism. Their work materializes in installations, animation, intuitive and experimental agriculture, text, sound, performance, and sculpture, with a recurring presence of video and the occasional use of dystopian aesthetics and satirical narratives. In 2022, they were awarded the working grant Arbejdslegater for billedkunstnere from the Danish Art Foundation.
